Crankworx 2025 Guide

Get ready, Crankworx Whistler is back and bigger than ever, and this year we are celebrating their 20th year! From August 8-17, 2025, the world’s top mountain bikers, fans, and industry leaders will descend on Whistler for 10 action-packed days of gravity-defying competition, live events, and unbeatable energy. 

Fan-Favourite Events Return 

Back by popular demand are the staples that define the Crankworx experience: 

 

    • Air Downhill – A fast-paced race full of flow and airtime on A-Line.

    • Official Whip-Off World Championships presented by POC – Style meets send as riders battle for the biggest sideways whip. 

    • 1199 DH – A high-speed, high-consequence downhill race on one of the most advanced trails in the bike park. 

    • OG Canadian Open DH – Bringing back to original DH track

    • Red Bull Joyride – The crown jewel of Crankworx and the pinnacle of slopestyle mountain biking, drawing thousands of spectators to Skier’s Plaza. 

What’s New for 2025 

Two new events debut at this year’s festival: 

 

    • Bosch eMTB Challenge – An enduro-style race that combines pedal power and e-bike tech on a rugged course designed to test both endurance and control. 

    • Outdoor Research Best Trick – A no-holds-barred competition where riders go all-in on creativity, amplitude, and technicality, launching their wildest tricks for the win.

Where to Watch the Action:

 

    • Lower Whistler Mountain (Skier’s Plaza): Red Bull Joyride – Watch from Skier’s Plaza or hike up to the fences for a closer view. 

    • Boneyard (Base of Whistler Mountain):  Events include Specialized Dual Slalom Whistler, Outdoor Research Best Trick, Ultimate Pump Track Challenge, and Whip-Off. 

    • Whistler Mountain Bike Park (Mid-Mountain): Includes Garbanzo DH, OG Canadian Open DH, Canadian Open Enduro, Kidsworx DH/Enduro, Adaptive DH, Air DH, and Bosch eMTB. With a bike and a valid Bike Park lift ticket, ride adjacent trails for race viewing. Without a bike, the finish lines can be accessed in Skier’s Plaza. 

    • Creekside Zone: RockShox Canadian Open DH (August 15). Rideable spectator access via nearby trails. Finish line viewing at Timing Flats, accessible by a free public shuttle from Legends in Creekside. 

    • Whistler Olympic Plaza: Home to Dirt Diaries and Deep Summer Photo Challenge. Free spectator access and complimentary bike valet available. 

Trail Closures:  
During Crankworx, some trails within Whistler Mountain Bike Park will be temporarily closed for athlete training and event operations.  View our daily operation stories on @whistlerbikeprk stories for updates and visit the Trail Status Page before your ride and check our daily operation stories on Instagram.  

Important Reminder: Riding closed trails may result in pass revocation. Obey all signage and closures for your safety and the safety of athletes and staff. 

Parking: 

 

    •  Paid parking is available in Day Lots 1, 3, 4 & 5 for the duration of Crankworx. There will be limited parking available in Lot 2, as it will be partially used for the Crankworx Tech and Demo Zones. 

    • Free parking is available in Day Lots 6, 7 & 8. Excalibur gondola will NOT be running so you will be able to walk up/down via the Village Run Trail or use the Ascent Trail. On August 16, Lower Excalibur Gondola will be running complimentary from approximately 9:00am – 7:30pm. Bikes and pets will not be permitted. 

    • Parking for the Rockshox Canadian Open DH event in Creekside, will be available on a first-come first-served basis at the Whistler Creekside Parkade. The Parkade is located right across the street from Creekside Gondola, with free parking available. 

    • A public shuttle will operate between Legends (across from the Whistler Creekside Parkade) and the race finish area at Timing Flats, view schedule here:

       

        • Thursday, August 14 : 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM: 1 shuttle in service (continuous loops) 

        • Friday, August 15: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM: 1 shuttle in service  and 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM: 2 shuttles in service 

Safety:  
For everyone’s safety, please adhere to the following guidelines during the event:

 

    • Follow all posted signage and instructions from event staff to ensure safe entry and exit from venues.

    • Smoking is strictly prohibited due to extreme fire risk.

    • No open alcohol is permitted on-site.

    • Pedestrians must stay off all bike trails.

    • Do not climb on structures or trees.

    • Dogs are not permitted in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park.

    • No littering- pack out what you pack in.
