As we look ahead to the 2026/27 winter season, there’s one change happening beyond our control that will affect how we operate on the mountain: British Columbia’s move to permanent Daylight Saving Time.
With the sun rising later during the darkest months of winter, we’ll be making some adjustments to our operating schedule to better align lift operating times with available daylight. And while most of the ski and ride experience you know and love will remain the same, some programs and offerings – including certain seasonal and early access products – will see changes.
What’s Changing as a Result of Permanent Daylight Saving Time
For winter 2026/27, during the early season, most valley and alpine lifts will open 30 minutes later than they have historically, with closing times also shifting later. Starting on opening day through January 15, the resort plans to open from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. While the day may begin a little later, guests will continue to enjoy a full day on the mountain.
As daylight hours increase throughout the season, our hours of operations will adjust. During the BC Family Day and Presidents’ Day holiday period, we are planning for lifts to return to the traditional operating hours. Spring hours will remain unchanged.
What This Means for Snow School Programming
With lifts opening a little later this winter to align with available daylight, we’re also making some adjustments to Snow School lesson times. Until Whistler Blackcomb transitions back to an 8:30 a.m. opening in mid-February, most Snow School lessons will start and end 30 minutes later than usual. This change helps ensure guests have a smooth experience getting up the mountain and allows lessons to begin once everyone has had time to reach their meeting areas.
For guests participating in seasonal or specialty programs, changes will be determined on a program-by-program basis and communicated directly to participants by September 30.
A Great Experience for Everyone
As we look ahead to the 2026/27 winter season, which we plan to kick off on November 20, we’ll continue to share updated schedules, program details, and other important information to help you make the most of your time on the mountain.
The bottom line: we’re committed to maximizing time in the alpine while continuing to deliver the exceptional experience our guests know and expect.
Be sure to keep an eye on our website, email updates, and social channels in the months ahead for the latest information. We can’t wait to welcome you back to the mountains this winter.
