Whistler Blackcomb Opening Day 2024/25 – Important Information Before You Join Us

Whistler Blackcomb officially kicks off the 2024/25 ski and ride season one day earlier than planned on Thursday, November 21 with Blackcomb Mountain. Whistler Mountain will open the following day, Friday, November 22. We are thrilled to welcome guests from the Sea to Sky Corridor, the Lower Mainland, across Canada, the U.S. and around the world for another season of unparalleled mountain adventure. Ahead of Opening Day, we wanted to share some Know Before You Go tips and info. Read on and get stoked!

My Epic App:

New for the 2024/25 season, hands-free Mobile Pass and Mobile Lift Tickets will go live at the resort within the My Epic app. This innovation will allow guests to skip the ticket window and buy their Pass (or lift ticket) online, then activate and store it in the My Epic app. When they arrive, they can get scanned, hands-free, straight from their pocket via hand scanners with low energy Bluetooth ® technology designed for low energy use.  With this enhancement, the My Epic app will provide Whistler Blackcomb guests a one-stop app, offering lift access, real-time resort updates, personalized stats, account information, and more. Physical cards will be available to any guests who cannot, or do not want to use their phone.

My Epic Gear:

Also new this season at Whistler Blackcomb is the launch of My Epic Gear, a first-of-its-kind gear membership that provides all the benefits of owning gear, but with more choice, lower cost, and no hassle. Members unlock access to more than 60 of the latest ski and snowboard models from 13 leading brands. The entire membership experience, from gear selection to free daily slopeside pick-up and drop-off, is available in the My Epic app. Best part for travelers to Whistler Blackcomb: no more hauling gear to and from the resort!

Jersey Cream Express Upgrade:

Another highlight this season is the debut of the newly upgraded Jersey Cream Express chairlift – now a 6-person chair that will significantly reduce wait times, improve circulation on-mountain, and increase uphill capacity to the popular Glacier Creek Zone on Blackcomb Mountain. This Epic Lift Upgrade marks the fourth improvement since 2022 to Whistler Blackcomb’s lift infrastructure, underscoring a commitment to continuous investment in the guest experience. Since 2022, upgrades have been made to Big Red Express (2022), Creekside Gondola (2022) and Fitzsimmons Express (2023).

Opening Day Lifts & Terrain:
Lifts start spinning at 8:30am on both Thursday and Friday and will include Blackcomb Gondola, Excalibur Gondola, Excelerator, Jersey Cream and Catskinner on Blackcomb, and Whistler Village Gondola, Emerald, Franz’s, Creekside Gondola and Big Red. PEAK 2 PEAK will also start spinning, connecting the two mountains.

Guests will have access to an early season terrain package that includes Wishbone, Easy Out, Expressway (Upper Easy Out), Last Resort, Over Easy, Big Easy, Countdown, Racer Alley, Wishbone, Whishbone Right, Choker, Upper Buzzcut, Catskinner Traverse, Zig Zag, Green Road and Gondola Way on Blackcomb Mountain; and Upper and Lower Whisky Jack, Upper and Lower Pony Trail, Orange Peel, Bear Cub, Papoose, Ego Bowl, Pig Alley, Enchanted Forest, Old Crow, Blue Road, Sidewinder, Expressway, Cat Track, Super Carpet and Adult Mini Carpet on Whistler Mountain. Over 1,900 skiable acres across both mountains! Whistler Blackcomb will continue to make snow at every opportunity in the early season and take advantage of ongoing snowfall to expand terrain offerings.

Check Terrain & Lift status throughout the season to see which lifts are spinning and which trails are open for skiing and riding. You can also get real time mountain and resort alerts on the My Epic app, including terrain status, snow reports and conditions information.

Snow:

We have accumulated over 220 cm and counting of snow, with a base depth of 136 cm, and anticipate that it will continue to accumulate as we move past Opening Day and into December. In the meantime, our expert snowmaking and grooming teams will continue making snow as conditions allow, working hard to capitalize on available cold weather windows to turn on the snow guns and give Mother Nature a helping hand to expand our terrain package.

Safety:
We ae committed to helping keep you safe this season, so you can focus on having a great time on the mountain! Guests should ski with a buddy, obey all signage, educate themselves about the alpine environment, learn and adhere to the Alpine Responsibility Code, and have our ski patrol phone number saved (604-935-5555). Importantly, please remember we are in early season conditions – snowpack is limited and marked obstacles will be present. Please obey all signage and take your time to get re-familiar with skiing and riding.

Parking:
Free parking is available at all Whistler Blackcomb owned lots (6-8 and Creekside Parkade) on a first-come-first-served basis. The Municipality of Whistler’s Day Lots (1-5) will also be open for paid parking. Additional paid parking is available underground in the village when all day lots are full.

In an effort to reduce traffic congestion and improve the guest arrival experience, Whistler Blackcomb will be launching a trial carpool program to encourage guests to travel together in vehicles with four or more people. This will be in place at Upper Lot 7 on Blackcomb and level P1 at Creekside Parkade between 6am-11am on weekends and peak periods. After 11am, these lots will open to all vehicles, regardless of the number of passengers in the vehicle. Parking in both lots remains free at all times, without need for reservations. More information can be found in our carpool parking FAQ’s

Guests are encouraged to download the new My Epic App, tune in to Mountain FM (102.1 in Whistler, 107.1 in Squamish, 104.5 in Pemberton) for lot capacity updates and/or follow @wbmtnops on Twitter (X) for real-time updates on parking.

Accessibility
Wheelchair storage is available at all gondolas with Rupert Rollers available for guests to use at Village Gondola, Blackcomb Gondola, and Creekside Gondola. Excalibur Gondola does not fit a wheelchair, and only certain sit-ski’s will fit in the cabin, so we recommend choosing a different upload option if you require a sit-ski and haven’t used this lift. More information is available on our Accessibility in Whistler Page

Food and Beverage

A variety of on-mountain dining options will once again be available this season. The Horstman Hut is making a comeback, where guests can enjoy a European-style selection of sausages, sauerkraut, pretzels and mustards. Glacier Creek Lodge will debut Italian, Mexican and British style fish and chips options. Chic Pea will be rolling out a selection of smoked meat sandwiches and all-new topping options for its famous cinnamon buns. The newly renovated Corona Mountaintop Lodge in the Roundhouse makes its debut, along with a reimagined Seppo’s. And regionally inspired Indigenous dishes created in partnership with the culinary team at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre will return to Merlin’s (base of Blackcomb) and  Raven’s (top of Creekside Gondola).
